Fence Repair

You don't always need a new fence. Often you need the right repair. Shepherd Fencing fixes leaning posts, storm damage, broken boards and panels, and sagging gates on vinyl, aluminum, wood, and chainlink fences, without making you replace what's still good.

Styles

Fence Repair Styles We Install

If more than a few sections are failing, we'll tell you honestly whether repair or replacement makes more sense. Our repair vs. replace guide explains how we decide.

Storm Damage

Fallen limbs and wind can snap panels, posts, and gates. We replace the damaged parts and re-secure the rest.

Leaning or Broken Posts

We reset or replace posts that have rotted, heaved with frost, or were set too shallow.

Sagging Gates

Hinges, latches, and gate posts adjusted or replaced so the gate swings and latches again.

Boards, Pickets & Panels

Matching replacement boards, pickets, vinyl panels, and chainlink mesh where available.

Wood Stain & Restoration

Cleaning and staining to refresh a weathered wood fence.

Heights, Colors & Options

When repair makes sense

A few bad posts, a storm-damaged section, a sagging gate, or loose boards on a fence that is otherwise solid.

When replacement may be better

Widespread rot, many leaning posts, or a style that can't be matched. If replacement is the better value, we'll say so.

What Affects the Price

Every fence is priced on its own measurements, so we don't publish one-size-fits-all prices. These are the things that move the number up or down:

We give free written estimates after seeing your property. Read our fence cost guide for more, or ask about financing.

How It Works

  1. Free on-site estimateWe walk the property with you, measure, talk through materials and styles, and give you a written quote at no charge.
  2. Permits & property linesWe can pull the permit with your municipality for you (or you can pull it yourself), check HOA rules if you have them, and work from your survey so posts go on the right side of the line.
  3. Utility markingPennsylvania law requires a PA One Call (811) request before digging. We handle it, so underground lines are marked before we set a post.
  4. InstallationPosts set to the right depth for Pennsylvania frost, sections set level or stepped to your grade, and gates hung and adjusted.
  5. Walkthrough & cleanupWe walk the finished fence with you, clean up the site, and give you your warranty and care information.

Every install is backed by our 2-year workmanship warranty, with materials covered by the manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty. Warranty details.

Fence Repair FAQ

Do you repair fences you didn't install?
Yes. We repair existing vinyl, aluminum, wood, and chainlink fences regardless of who installed them.
Can you match my existing fence?
Usually, if the style and color are still made. We'll check before we start and let you know if an exact match isn't possible.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace?
If most of the fence is solid, repair is usually much cheaper. Read our repair vs. replace guide, or have us take a look for free.
Why is my fence leaning?
The most common causes are posts set too shallow, frost heave, rot at the base of wood posts, and soil movement. See our PA winter maintenance guide.
How do I get a repair estimate?
