Heights, Colors & Options

Why homeowners choose wood

A natural look, full custom sizing, and usually a lower upfront cost than vinyl for the same privacy.

Things to know

Wood needs periodic cleaning and staining or sealing to look its best, and it will weather and move over time. Cedar holds up better to decay than untreated pine.

What Affects the Price

Every fence is priced on its own measurements, so we don't publish one-size-fits-all prices. These are the things that move the number up or down:

We give free written estimates after seeing your property. Read our fence cost guide for more, or ask about financing.

How It Works

  1. Free on-site estimateWe walk the property with you, measure, talk through materials and styles, and give you a written quote at no charge.
  2. Permits & property linesWe can pull the permit with your municipality for you (or you can pull it yourself), check HOA rules if you have them, and work from your survey so posts go on the right side of the line.
  3. Utility markingPennsylvania law requires a PA One Call (811) request before digging. We handle it, so underground lines are marked before we set a post.
  4. InstallationOld fence removal before install, if you're replacing one. Then posts set to the right depth for Pennsylvania frost, sections set level or stepped to your grade, and gates hung and adjusted.
  5. Walkthrough & cleanupWe walk the finished fence with you, clean up the site, and give you your warranty and care information.

Every install is backed by our 2-year workmanship warranty, with materials covered by the manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty. Warranty details.

Wood Fence FAQ

Cedar or pressure-treated: which should I pick?
Cedar is lighter, naturally resists decay and insects, and has a warmer color. Pressure-treated pine is very strong and usually costs less. We'll walk you through both at your free estimate.
How long does a wood fence last?
It depends on the lumber, how the posts are set, and maintenance. Regular cleaning and sealing make a big difference. Our maintenance guide covers what to do each year.
Should I stain my new wood fence?
Most new wood should dry out before it's stained or sealed. We'll tell you what makes sense for the lumber we install.
Can you repair my existing wood fence instead?
Often, yes. Rotted posts, broken boards, and sagging gates can usually be fixed. See fence repair and our repair vs. replace guide.
How much does a wood fence cost?
It depends on lumber, style, height, footage, and your yard. We give free written estimates. See our cost guide.
